Birch Lodge is our bungalow tucked away at the end of a single lane road in a beautiful, peaceful semi-rural location elevated above the village of Briton Ferry on the outskirts of Neath, enjoying far ranging views across the valley towards Skewen and beyond. The home is surrounded by farmland and opposite Britton Ferry woods which consist of broad hillsides of mixed deciduous woodlands overlooking the Neath estuary with wonderful views from high up, towards the coastline of Port Talbot and Swansea.
With close links and only a short drive to the to the M4 for Cardiff and West Wales. The home is also conveniently located within easy access to local amenities and good transport links via bus, train and car to both Neath town and Swansea city centre.
The town offers a choice of a wide variety of education facilities such as, Clun Primary School, Cwrt Sart Comprehensive School, Llandarcy Academy of Sport and Neath College.
There are also plenty of activities to take part in, a few to mention are in the Leisure and Sports Centres such as, Aberavon Leisure and Fitness Centre with swimming pool, Vale of Neath Leisure Centre with swimming pool, Leisure Centre (LC2) Swansea with swimming pool, Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC, Briton Ferry Rugby & Cricket Social Club. There is also a local library, church, and an ample amount of local youth clubs and country parks.
Furthermore, there is a nearby health centre, doctors, hospital, chemist, dental practice, post office and superstore.
Range of needs we can support:
Birch Lodge provides placements, for young people who are unable to live with their families. Emergency placements are accepted if the initial assessment confirms suitability and ensures the needs of young person can be met by the staff team.
At Birch Lodge we provide services for young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties as well as associated needs, such as, although not limited to, mental health needs, attachment disorders, post-traumatic stress disorders.
We offer supportive and individualised care packages for young people with complex behaviours which restrict their opportunities and negatively impact their development, such as issues with physical and verbal aggression and self-harm. We will assess the needs and the ability of company to meet those needs at the time of referral.
